HELP

OK, here is something for which I have been asking the Lord for help.  I am looking for people in the scriptures who had expectations of either God or man that they felt were unmet....I was given one instance where Naomi, Ruth's mother-in-law, in Ruth 1:20 calls herself Mara, Bitter, because the Lord brought her back to her people empty when she left full of sons and a husband.

Can you think of places in scripture with such instances?

Thanks for your input, ladies.
Thanks for the above example, Bambi!
Love you guys!

  2. From Natalie Brown:

I thought about your question...I came up with a few things. Sarah, had an expectation from God, but she thought she needed Hagar.

Leah thought that if she gave Jacob more sons then he would love her (boy do a lot of women fall into that trap.)

Michael, Davids first wife, expected David to act "royally." She was barren. After her criticism he probably never had relations with her again.

Tamar, Judah's son's wife, expected to be given to Judah's son to redeem her and give her children to carry on her husband's line. When Judah didn't follow through on his promise, she took matters into her own hands and prostituted herself to JUDAH.

Well, just a few thoughts. Have a great day. :)
